William “Butchie” George – Dawn of the Dead Motorcycle Raider – Signed Photograph
A particularly scarce autograph from William “Butchie” George, one of the memorable motorcycle raiders who storm the Monroeville Mall during the climactic biker attack in George A. Romero’s 1978 classic Dawn of the Dead.
Butchie appears in the film as a Motorcycle Raider, riding his Harley-Davidson Panhead during the mall sequence.
This original signed photograph features Butchie during the motorcycle-raider scenes from Dawn of the Dead and has been personally autographed:
“William ‘Butchie’ George”
The autograph was obtained directly from Butchie George at Living Dead Weekend, giving the piece excellent first-hand provenance.
Butchie autographs are particularly difficult to find. Unlike several other members of the Dawn of the Dead cast, he made relatively few convention appearances, meaning there are considerably fewer signed pieces in circulation.
His connection with Romero’s Living Dead universe also extended beyond Dawn of the Dead. Butchie later worked alongside Tom Savini on the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead as a member of the art department/scenic crew, and he also appears in the film as a biker during the closing picnic-party sequence.
William “Butchie” George passed away on August 10, 2023, at the age of 76. His obituary also remembered him as an artist, collector and lifelong Harley-Davidson enthusiast, making his appearance among the motorcycle raiders in Dawn of the Dead particularly fitting.

A wonderful piece of original Dawn of the Dead memorabilia and a difficult signature to add to a collection of the film’s cast and motorcycle raiders.
